Magazine Covers - Unfinished - Evaluative

Cover 1

This is my first attempt at the magazine cover, it is not entirely finished but close to being.

Cover 2

This is my second attempt at the magazine cover, once again it is almost finshed, but because I was unsure about which photograph to use I wanted to try them both before I completed them.

 

Cover 1

Good	Bad
·         Photograph is striking as she’s looking at straight at the camera so draws attention. ·         Her eyes are about 2/3 of the way up and 2/3 to the left which is where your eyes are naturally drawn too. ·         The colours match the photograph, keeping a colour scheme. ·         The text used stands out well from the background/ image.	·         The Mast Head doesn’t show as much as it could. ·         There are not enough hooks / too many blank spaces between them. ·         The ‘tag’ is blending with the hooks a bit.

To counteract these bad points and finish the magazine cover, I will need too:
- Move the photograph to the right to reveal more of the mast head.
- Make the hooks closer together and add more in the spaces.
- Add a strapline to the KT Exclusive hook.
- Add a bar of colour behind the tag.
- Add a price

Doing these things, will make the magazine more appealing. For example filling the page with more hooks makes it show that the magazine is filled with more stories, and also gives the reader more information about what’s going to be in the magazine.

I have decided to use ‘Cover 1’ and so I will correct the problems with that, and not continue with ‘Cover 2’ as there’s no point.

School Magazine

Front Cover:

The front cover is the most appealing part of the magazine, it is the first thing the reader sees, and that means it must be eye catching.
The target audience is pupils between the ages of 11 and 18 as this is the school going age.
The cover therefore should be representative of the school but also still seem interesting to the target audience so for the tags I tried to make the text stand out and look interesting so that pupils would want to find out more and read the magazine.

   










The contents page was harder to design, the articles still had to sound interesting and the titles of each needed to sum up the stories. To make it look more interesting I have included photographs to give an idea of the article.

The contents page also had to fit with the cover and as I used the school colours for the scheme it made it easier to continue this throughout.
